Virtual reality (VR) has had a lot of videogames, but CCP think they’ve got a new eSport on their hands. Sparc was announced in March earlier this year at EVE Fanfest and is expected to be released on Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR to be released sometime in 2017. Morgan Godat speaks to VRFocus‘ Nina Salomons about how Sparc is enjoyable for people who don’t play games or know about VR at all.
He explains how CCP is working with the limitations of VR, and why they chose not to show the feet without accurately tracking your body. Perhaps one day we’ll be watching Sparc in the virtual Olympics, with full body tracking. The title will be coming to HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in future, but it will get far more interesting as Sparc will launch exclusively on the PlayStation VR Console audience in Q3.
