Horror Title The Bellows Is Coming to PlayStation VR

Horror titles are often considered to be much scarier in virtual reality (VR). The immersion and immediacy of the experience is amplified when its is you directly experiencing the horrors, instead of an avatar. As such, many PlayStation VR owners will welcome news that developer Castle Steps have announced that its horror title The Bellows will be heading to Sony’s VR platform.

A trailer has been released showing some of the environments and elements that will form part of the experience. The Bellows was originally released on Steam for the HTC Vive back in 2016, where it received a mostly positive reception. The title was fully reworked since its original release to improve the experience and eliminate several persistent bugs and issues.

The developers describe The Bellows as being more akin to an interactive movie than a true videogame. The gameplay involves exploring an unnerving, abandoned house and discovering its secrets. The aim is to blur the lines between nightmares and reality, and to dredge the depths of the past to uncover dark secrets. The full experience is said to last around 15 minutes.

The Bellows is available for free on Steam for HTC Vive, though it is currently unknown what price will be set for the PlayStation VR version. It seems likely that the PlayStation VR version will take advantage of the PlayStation Move controllers, though at present little information is available. A release date is also yet to be confirmed.
