M.I.A. Reveals Dead Moon – Revenge on Phobos Coming to Steam Early Access

If there’s one thing virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) have a lot of is first-person shooters (FPS). Yes, the technology fits the genre very well, offering intense action filled experiences, but to standout from the crowd developers need to offer something special, Later this month Mercury Aerospace Industries (M.A.I.) will be launching its second VR title, Dead Moon – Revenge on Phobos, for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, aiming to entice gamers with its sci-fi shooter.

Set in the year 2393, you an archaeologist on your way back from Mars who’s forced to land on Phobos. Once there you find an abandoned outpost looking for a way to leave the moon. As you may expect that’s not going to be straight forward as there are a few bloodthirsty monsters in the way.

Purely single-player, Dead Moon – Revenge on Phobos has been split across four episodes, with gameplay both inside the space station and outside on the moon’s surface. These episodes are then further split down into four maps.

Five weapons will feature in the early access version, with a pistol as your standard gun plus it has unlimited ammo and an automatic reload. Then there’s shotguns, machine guns, rifles and rocket launchers available to pick up. M.I.A plans to add more guns as development continues.

The title also goes with an old school feel to its items, with medikits offering 25 and 75 percent heath regeneration and shield pickups offering the same.

Dead Moon – Revenge on Phobos is set to launch on 31st July 2017, for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. For further updates on the title, keep reading VRFocus.
