Open-World Flying Title Ultrawings Coming to PlayStation VR

Oculus Rift owners have been able to take to the skies of Bit Planet Games’ Ultrawings for several months now, able to freely explore the open-world title whilst trying out different aircraft. The studio has recently revealed plans to extend support with a teasing tweet confirming a PlayStation VR version is in the works.

While the tweet mentions Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) headset it doesn’t state how far from completion the port is, so it maybe a little while before PlayStation VR owners can get their hands on the experience. There was one other tidbit of information though, with a racing element – not multiplayer however – also in development.

Since the release of the Oculus Rift version Bit Planet Games has announced a Samsung Gear VR version and that at some point this month Ultrawings will be coming to Steam, adding support for HTC Vive and OSVR in the process.

Ultrawings features three different aircraft to pilot which can be unlocked by completing missions to earn money, as well as buying new airports across three separate islands. Players will be able to shoot at balloons with aircraft mounted guns, with the most skilled pilots being able to use a handgun. They’ll also be able to snap photos, try their hand at scoring points by flying through rings or just practice for a perfect landing.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Bit Planet Games’ plans for Ultrawings, reporting back with the latest updates.
