Pokémon GO European Safari Zone Events Dated for This Summer

It’s been almost a year since Niantic Labs launched augmented reality (AR) title Pokémon GO into the world, creating a wave of players hunting down Pikachu’s, Bulbasaur’s, Charmander’s and every other little monster. While that wave of hype has certainly died down, the studio has continued to keep interest alive with a bunch of promotions and special events. Taking place over the summer for European players is the Safari Zone, with the aim of encouraging trainers to team-up as they hunt the rarest Pokémon.

Safari Zone will take place across seven European cities, where players can catch those elusive rare Pokémon from special Kanto-region and Johto-region zones, including Pokémon never before encountered in Europe, obtain special rewards and take on powerful Raid Bosses. The Safari Zone events will also feature Pokémon GO lounges where players can recharge their devices and meet various Pokémon GO YouTube creators in attendance.

As VRFocus reported back in June, American players will be getting Pokémon GO Fest Chicago. This will be taking place on Saturday, 22nd July in Grant Park, with attendees able to participate in three Challenge Window activities to catch certain types of Pokémon in order to unlock a variety of perks for Pokémon GO players around the world. Those unable to attend the festival will still be able to participate by catching as many Pokémon as possible during these Challenge Windows.

If enough Pokémon are caught then mystery challenge will be revealed at Pokémon GO Fest Chicago for the potential to unlock an extra-special bonus across the globe.

The Pokémon Company will also be hosting the annual Pikachu Outbreak event in Yokohama, Japan, from 9th–14th August, where a special Pokémon GO experience will take place.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Pokémon GO, reporting back with the latest announcements.
