Social music platform TheWaveVR initially launched in 2016 after securing seed funding that allowed it to create a platform that allowed virtual reality (VR) users to attend virtual concerts and shows, or hold private dance parties for their friends. The platform is now about to launch its third flagship show, featuring LA duo HeavyGrinder.
HeavyGrinder are a music duo based out of Los Angeles known for its work in metal-electronic and EDM, as well as its neon aesthetic heavily influenced by the likes of Tokyo’s clubbing and kawaii culture. The new show will put VR users high above the city to party with the musicians in a colourful 360-degree show.
“We’re really excited about this show as we’re huge fans of Heavygrinder. We’re also excited to show off how powerful some of our internal tools are for customizing these shows to artist’s aesthetics,” said CEO and Co-Founder Adam Arrigo. “We’ve built some really cool ways to bring artists’ content into this crazy realm of VR.”
The new show is the third flagship show to launch on TheWaveVR platform. Others included NFOLD featuring Strangelook and Brainfeeder, and Grimcraft VR which launched two weeks ago. TheWaveVR is available for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift via Steam for users in the US.
The creators of TheWaveVR are planning on adding more content in the coming weeks and hope to push the boundaries of the concert format. “We want each show to feel like a portal into that artist’s world- to have unique visuals and interactions that couldn’t be possible outside VR,” said Arrigo.
HeavyGrinder on TheWaveVR will air at 7pm Pacific time on Wednesday 26th June, 2017. A trailer is available to view below.
