Back in November 2016, VRFocus reported on a project to create a platform for business communications that was being developed by VR solution provider WorldViz titled ‘Project Skofield’. The project was in early Alpha at the time, but WorldViz have now announced that the solution is now branded Vizible and will be launching in October 2017.
Vizible will be primarily targeted at sales professionals and will operate as a combination of VOIP communication platform, along with offering the ability to share virtual models, pictures and virtual mock-ups. The system is designed to take advantage of the sense of immersion and ‘presence offered by VR to encourage engagement.
The new platform will be available for a starting subscription of $250 (USD) per month, and is planned for a launch in October 2017, though customers can apply to be Beta testers by signing up at the WorldViz website.
“Modern communication technologies such as telephony, video conference calls, and PowerPoint sharing simply don’t enable decision makers to experience complex products first hand before they purchase them,” said WorldViz CEO and co-founder, Andrew Beall. “To circumvent this limitation, companies are spending a staggering $1.25 trillion globally on business travel, and even then, salespeople must still resort to 2D designs or costly physical mock-ups that help them sell. We believe Vizible is the answer to that challenge.”
WorldViz claim that little to no technical expertise is required to take advantage of the Vizible system, since the system has been designed to offer intuitive methods of creating virtual presentations , along with the ability to quickly and easily import 2D content such as PDFs or PowerPoint slides.
A live demonstration of the Vizible system will be showcased at SIGGRAPH 2017, which will be held in Los Angeles on 30th July to the 3rd August.
