Don’t Knock Twice or You’ll Get an Answer This September

In March, psychological horror movie Don’t Knock Twice was released in cinemas, starring Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galatica). A few months prior, Wales Interactive released a demo for an accompanying virtual reality (VR) experience of the same name, to be fully released around the same time as the film. This didn’t happen, instead the studio has today announced that Don’t Knock Twice will be launching next month across all devices.

Don’t Knock Twice is a first-person horror title based around an urban legend. A guilt-ridden mother must save her estranged daughter from a vengeful, demonic witch. Players find themselves inside a grand manor house which they need to explore to save the daughter. Littered around are objects which can aid in their journey to fight and escape the other worldly terror.

“Don’t Knock Twice has truly been our most exciting project yet. Our goal was to make it accessible to as many gamers as possible, and we’re lucky enough to be able to develop and publish on three of the leading VR devices as well as giving the option to play traditionally on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. A variety of controller setups are fully supported and there’s also the option for sitting, standing and room-scale play options too,” said Ben Tester, Wales Interactive in a statment. “We found that many VR gamers are restricted to what they can play because they don’t have access to one particular device or platform, which is sometimes resolved by throwing VR support on top of a traditional game, which is not what we’ve done here. We’ve designed this from the ground up to work with or without a VR device so everyone can share the same experiences regardless of what devices they own. We hope to extend the reach even further by looking to support the Nintendo Switch too, so watch this space!”

Don’t Knock Twice will be released on 5th September for PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. It’ll retail at £15.99 GBP / $19.99 USD, with pre-orders starting today offering a discount of 20 percent. Wales Interactive has yet to confirm when PlayStation 4 pre-orders will be available, although the studio does state it should be soon.
