Edgar Allan Poe’s Poem “The Raven” Brought to Life on Oculus Rift

Inspiration for virtual reality (VR) content can come from anywhere, literature, films, other videogames, but rarely do you see one inspired by a poem. That’s exactly what Thomas Pasieka has done with his newly released project for Oculus Rift, giving life to 19th century American writer Edgar Allan Poe’s famous work The Raven.

Starting life in 2015 as a Patreon project, The Raven VR is a reading of Poe’s poem set inside an artistic and musical impression of his work, placing viewers inside a stylized version of Poe’s sitting room from December 1845.

Read by Barry Carl, an American musician and voice-over actor, Pasieka created the artwork whilst enlisting the help of Jordan Rudess, whose part of two-time Grammy nominated American progressive metal band Dream Theater.

Head on over the Oculus Store to download The Raven VR, and for all the latest Oculus Rift releases, keep reading VRFocus.
