Geometry Wars Inspired Spartaga Coming to HTC Vive and Oculus Rift

House of How has today unveiled its debut virtual reality (VR) videogame, the Geometry Wars inspired Spartaga. Currently in development for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, Spartaga is set to launch via Steam later this year.

Keen to acknowledge the success of the ‘Xortex 26XX’ mini-game featured in Valve’s The Lab, Spartaga is suggested to increase the ‘scope and calibur’ of the action significantly.

Spartaga will feature multiple gameplay modes and is promising more than 10 hours of content as you battle more than 30 enemy types, including several bosses. The soundtrack is being provide by established ambient electronica artist Carbon Based Lifeforms, who just announced a new album recently after 6 years.

“I’m excited to tell you about our new indie release “Spartaga”- A VR bullet hell inspired by Geometry Wars and Xortex 26XX. Development started over a year ago, led by a former Gears of War lead technical designer. A few teams have tried to follow-up on the bullet hell that came in The Lab, but I dare to argue, with nothing of this scope or caliber,” stated Russ McMackin, founder of House of How, in an e-mail to VRFocus. “Spartaga has in my humble opinion very strong gameplay, more than most VR titles currently have to offer, and isn’t a first person shooter or a horror game.”

Spartaga will launch on 28th August 2017, for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. VRFocus will be going hands-on with a preview build of the videogame very soon, and will keep you updated with all the latest details.
