Knockout League Brings the Metal With Iron Update

Developer Grab Games released its arcade-style virtual reality (VR) boxing title Knockout League early in 2017, where it brought a cast of eccentric characters and a claymation aesthetic to a boxing ring and the Oculus Rift and HTC vive. The developer has now expanded its roster with the new Iron Update.

The most significant feature to be added in the new update is new boxing character, the Iron Maiden. A terrifying metal statue who despite being metallic is nonetheless very quick with her punches as well as being sharp to the touch.

A new training mini-game is also being added in the shape of Reflex Alley, in which trainer Doug takes the player to be introduced to the ‘Doug-o-Matic 5000’ use of which means the player will need to quickly learn how to dodge, block and punch the various objects launched by the Doug-O-Matic 5000.

Several gameplay features have also been tweaked, such as Crimson Fang now taking damage on every successful hit, instead of only when she is stunned. Dodge timing has also been changed to make it easier to dodge during an opponent’s wind up and some character’s hit boxes have been adjusted.

As you would expect, several bugs have also been eliminated and some minor animation improvements such as bouncing ring ropes have been added.

Knockout League is available through team Early Access for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, priced at £14.99 (GBP). Further information and updates can be found on the Steam page.
