When it comes to sport there’s a lot to enjoy in virtual reality (VR), both those in the realm of actual reality with matches and games streamed in VR (see our regular weekend item This Week in VR Sport for some examples of this) and those in the realm of videogames.
These can range from simulation type games, such as driving experiences Project CARS 2 and Gran Turismo Sport – the latter of which has a new trailer out focusing on PlayStation VR use, which you can watch here. Then there are the more general representations of sport, such as Sanzaru Games’ VR Sports Challenge or Degica Games’ VR Sports. Before we move on to the more extreme and loose interpretation of sport in VR, such as the giant mecha antics of 100ft Robot Golf.
Let’s Bowl VR by Rising Fun Games appears to fit somewhere between the first two categories and shares a similarly anarchic ‘do whatever you like’ attitude to the environment that was shown to such effect by Sports Bar VR. Except whilst that was in a bar, this is very much solely in a bowling alley the type of which can vary from that of a general run-of-the-mill bowling alley to that of a private club. Whether you choose to bowl in a neon palace complete with black lights or a slightly seedier joint is entirely up to you.
Let’s Bowl VR is now in Early Access on Steam and supports the HTC Vive. You can get it for the somewhat unusual price of £13.59 (GBP). VRFocus will bring you more news about the title as it develops.
