The solar eclipse that took place on 21st August, 2017 was a once-in-a-lifetime event for many. Those who were not in a country or region where they could view the eclipse used technology to get a good view of the event, including a livestream offered by NASA. NASA have now gone a step further and are offering the world a full 360-degree view.
In partnership with Blend Media and Facebook, NASA captured a 360-degree video of one of the most widely-viewed astronomical events in history, which was the first eclipse to go coast-to-coast across the USA in 99 years.
The 360-degree time-lapse video was captured by photographer William Briscoe, one of Blend Media’s creators and an expert in 360-degree time lapse capture. William Briscoe, Blend creator, said: “Being able to capture this eclipse in 360˚ was a dream come true for me. I’ve been working on the plans and logistics for many months now and I’m honoured to be able to able to capture this spectacular natural phenomenon.”
Damian Collier, Founder and CEO at Blend Media, said: “William Briscoe is possibly the most eminent time-lapse 360˚ creator in the world, and we are thrilled to be representing him exclusively at Blend Media. He was the perfect choice for bringing NASA’s vision to life for this exciting project.”
