The March of the Penguins Becomes More Threatening

Humans spent hundreds of years trying to find a way to achieve flight. Well, in Wingless, it seems that certain flightless birds are envious of this and are out to take the power of flight for themselves. In Wingless, the penguins are coming to get you.

A somewhat unusual entry into the wave shooter genre, waves of penguins charge towards the player, who is armed with snowballs and sticks of dynamite shoved inside fish as defensive weapons. Snowballs are versatile weapons which can be quickly pitched towards an oncoming penguin, or carefully built up to enormous size to roll towards the oncoming wave, flattening those in its path.

There are two main modes available: Competitive Mode where players have to utilise every weapon at hand to cut down the penguins and claw their way to the top of the leaderboard, or Casual Mode, a much more relaxed style of gameplay where penguins are less aggressive and you can check out their stylish headwear as they get closer.

Skins of the players hands are unlockable, so the player can choose to decorate their in-game hands as different skins are discovered, with skins such as dark leather or sports gloves available to be found.

Wingless is available for HTC vive and Oculus Rift. Designed to offer a more active experience, the title is room scale, so will need a play area of at least 2m x 1.7m. Wingless is currently available with a 10% launch discount, putting the price at £4.49 (GBP), compared to the usual price of £4.99. Further information can be found on the Steam store page.

VRFocus will bring you further information on Wingless and other new and upcoming VR titles as it becomes available.
