ARK Park Gets PlayStation VR Launch Date

Though ARK: Survival Evolved is no longer planning to include virtual reality (VR) elements, its spin-off title, ARK Park will still be letting players roam with dinosaurs and other creatures in VR. The development team have also now confirmed that the title will be coming to PlayStation VR at the end of this year.

Snail Games have confirmed they are planning a Christmas release for ARK Park, anticipating a December 2017 release on PlayStation VR. The emphasis will largely be on exploration and collecting, though there will be some combat elements and mutliplayer options.

Players will be able to explore ten large maps containing various creatures, collectables, challenges and easter eggs. Maps will be available to explore by yourself or with a group of other players. Users will be able to collect ‘Gene Fragments’ which can be found using various combinations of puzzle-solving, reflexes or resource management to get hold of the rarest fragments. These fragments can then be used to unlock new crafting blueprints, or even new maps to explore.

Simulation elements are also involved, such as dinosaur breeding, where players can collect and take care of eggs. Once they hatch, they can be raised and trained and even used as transportation. Some dinosaurs are not as friendly, however, so players will sometimes need to fight against hostile giant reptiles using a selection of weaponry, both ranged and melee. Players can choose to fight alone or team up with other players for co-operative multiplayer.

ARK Park will support Dual Shock and PlayStation Move controls, and will feature a variety of language options.

VRFocus will bring you further information on ARK Park as it becomes available.
