The announcement concerning Microsoft’s line of Windows 10 Mixed Reality devices at IFA Berlin trade fair has generated much excitement and speculation. ASUS seemed keen to tap into that excitement with the reveal of its teaser video, but it seems the excitement may be somewhat premature.
For those users who are admiring the polygonal design of the front faceplate of the ASUS version of the Windows 10 MR headset, it seems that they may have to wait a little longer than most Windows 10 MR users, since ASUS have put back the release date of the device until Spring 2018.
The reason for the delay has not yet been confirmed, and has sparked some confusion since Tron-inspired teaser trailer, with its neon lines and pulsing electronic music seemed timed to coincide with the Microsoft keynote announcement.
The news is likely to disappoint some users, though as many have already pointed out, there is a large selection of options available for Windows 10 MR. Most versions of the Windows 10 MR device will be going on sale from 17th October, 2017. Prices will begin at $299 (USD) for the Acer version, with the HP version priced at $329 and Dell’s Visor’ priced at $349.99.
Of course, for any of these devices users will need a compatible Windows 10 PC capable of supporting the MR applications.
