FIVARS VR/AR Fest Returns for 2017 With 30 Experiences From Around the World

Returning to Toronto, Canada, for its third year is the Festival of International Virtual & Augmented Reality Stories (FIVARS) this month. The three day event will some of the best immersive content by creators from across the globe, with 30 experiences in total.

The programming lineup features 360-degree movies like Baobab’s Invasion!, My Brother’s Keeper and Ashes to Ashes, interactive virtual reality (VR) content such as Under the Neon Lights, The Dream Collector and Alteration. While on the AR front there’s Pacha’s Pyjama’s and City of Ghosts.

“We are always looking for what represents the vanguard in VR while demonstrating a unique approach to the medium itself,” said founder and executive director Keram Malicki-Sanchez in a statment. “We want to represent the spectrum of ideas, themes, genres, voices and territories.”

This year the festival will be held at the 2-storey House of VR at Queen and Bathurst. Tickets are sold in two hour blocks for individual days, granting customers a wristband that can be used for access to talks with producers, directors, distributors and special guests, and a paper ticket with 40 minutes of viewing time that can be applied to the catalog of choices.

Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite for $42 CAD + HST per 40 minutes of viewing material. FIVARS only allows ages 13+ for VR but the AR experiences can be viewed by all ages.
