Welcome back into the world of immersive technologies for yet another week. This week alone we’ve the Eurogamer Expo aka EGX and the Tokyo Game Show, as well as VRDC and the Raindance Film Festival. So just a few things to look forward too.
Today’s 360 degree item for you to look at is another item from the BBC. Entitled The School Run, it’s been developed by London-based company Spirit Media and it’s a new reality series – except one that utilizes 360 degree camera technology, of course. The School Run follows several families as they take their children in to school, the parents worrying about getting there and the children worrying what will happen when they do. It’s interactive, so you’ll be able to click on various hotspots throughout the journey to get more formation or follow-up media.
“It mixes the viral potential of TV shows and formats like The Secret Life of Five Year Olds and James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke with Goggle Box style entertainment.” Explains the BBC on the BBC Taster website. “We also wanted to experiment with interactive and 360 production technologies to feel like we’re in the car with each of our families.”
