To improve the user experience for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR head-mounted displays (HMDs) Oculus has rolled out a bunch of new improvements across both platforms, with the biggest being the way consumers can request refunds for content purchases.
To make it easier there is now an automated refund policy – just like Steam – where: “You may return Rift apps, games and many experiences purchased through Oculus for any reason, as long as you submit your request within fourteen days of purchase and you have engaged with the content for no more than two hours,” the company states.
For Gear VR it’s somewhat stricter, with requests having to be made within two days of purchase and no more than thirty minutes being played.
Additionally, certain content isn’t available for automated refunds. These include: films, bundles, content purchased as part of a bundle or content downloaded or purchased inside apps (DLC).
In addition to the refund update Oculus has also announced a new public test channel for mobile, so that Gear VR users can get first-access to new software releases. Lastly the Oculus Store now supports 360-degree only apps, videogames, and experiences, notifying users which titles require a 360° tracking configuration before purchasing.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Oculus, reporting back with the latest updates.
