SightSpace 3D Viewer Software Now Supports ARKit

Early last year US-based cloud computing firm Limitless Computing launched a new product which allowed users to view 3D models in augmented reality (AR). Now the company has launched a new version of its product which supports Apple’s ARKit.

The new version of the 3D AR model viewer is called SightSpace Pro 4.0 and integrates geolocation technology along with the improved AR capabilities of ARKit for immersive, interactive visualisation of 3D models.

SightSpace Pro is cloud-based, so users can sign in to SightSpace and find the models they need stored on the SightSpace cloud, which has significant advantages for users who need to travel for meetings and presentations. SightSpace Pro supports all the major 3D modelling software, including Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk, Graphisoft ArchiCAD and Solidworks.

“Communicating design visions with clients and colleagues has been a challenge for many architecture and construction professionals,” commented Jeffrey Franklin, CTO, Limitless Computing Inc. “By emailing a SightSpace Share Code to a client, our users can share projects securely with any metadata they choose. Anywhere there is a Share Code – in email, on blueprints, on a construction site – anyone with a mobile device can have an interactive, immersive, Augmented Reality experience. It’s Augmented Reality for everyone.”

Limitless Computing is joining with many other companies who have begun using ARKit to enhance existing products or design now applications that take advantage of the enhanced AR capabilities to offer a new experience for consumers. Several mobile videogames have already begun to use ARKit, and companies have been using its abilities for features such as assisted parking or choosing new furniture.

VRFocus will continue to report on new applications for AR technology.
