VR Drum Kit From The Music Room Now on Steam

Drum kits can be expensive, cumbersome and, of course, very noisy. If you have limited space, or are worried about the noise, The Music Room have a solution. Tombé Drums VR has just been released on Steam by Chroma Coda, the developers behind The Music Room and offers a realistic virtual reality (VR) drum kit.

Tombé Drums VR is part of the same family of instruments as the ones available through The Music Room and aims to offer the same level of realism, though without the MIDI integration. Drum sounds have been scanned from top-level kits from well-known manufacturers such as Pearl, Ludwig, Sabian, Zildjian and Gretsch. There are various VR surroundings available to play in, including a studio, a rehearsal room, or you can aim to get used to being on stage at Cherry Bar, one of the world’s most famous rock and roll bars, or you can practice at Bakehouse Studio, a favoured rehearsal space for Elvis Costello, Nick Cave and Tool.

The application supports a wide range of actions and articulations, users can play cross-stick hits, rim shots, tip and shank hits on the hi-hat, choke cymbals, all with velocity sensitivity and low latency.

A Demo is available to try out, which features a Gretsch Broadcaster kit which gives users a chance to see how easy the application is to set up and how it feels to play. All the movement and articulation features of the full experience are included in the demo, to give an accurate feel for how it plays.

Tombé Drums VR is available on Steam for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. It is currently on offer at a price of £13.49 (GBP), a 10% launch discount on the usual price of £14.99. Further information can be found on the Steam store page.

VRFocus will bring you further news on Tombé Drums VR and The Music Room as it becomes available.
