There are plenty of ways to get creative in virtual reality (VR), whether you own an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. Apps such as Tilt Brush, Medium, Quill, MasterpieceVR, SculptrVR, Modbox and many, many more. These are all very precise tools for creating beautiful works of art, but what if you want something a bit more rugged, a block you can craft using just a chainsaw perhaps? Well British developer Onteca has the answer with Power Tools VR.
As the title suggests, you get a range of tools to get creative with, from chainsaws and drills, to axes and jackhammers. So you just walk into the workshop pickup whichever tool takes your fancy and then sculpt away on the big block in the room.
“We’re really excited to be launching this product in the UK and think it has a natural audience here,” said Onteca’s Chief Executive, Jon Wetherall, on the upcoming release in a statement. “When we designed the toy, we wanted to create something that offered some of the creative possibilities of products like Tiltbrush and MasterpieceVR but with more humour and excitement.”
Onteca is releasing Power Tools VR in October in early access, with the full launch happening in November. And because it’s coming up to Halloween the release will have a spooky theme to it, adding a few bits of guts and gore for good measure.
Power Tools VR will be available to buy from Steam later this month. Supporting both Oculus Rift and Vive it’ll retail for $9.99 USD/£6.99 GBP.
