Headspace VR Launches Kickstarter for you to Build, View, and Share Virtual Spaces

There are a multitube of apps for virtual reality (VR) that let users explore their creative visions, whether they want to paint a work of art or simply build amazing structures. This week indie developer Jimmy Alger has launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for a project in which users can create their own unique spaces, called Headspace VR.

Having previously worked for Las Vega-based Sunstorm Games making children’s games for mobile devices, Alger has spent the last two and a half years working on Headspace VR, an application in which users can build, view, and share virtual spaces to their favourite music. He’s now reached the point where he’s seeking funding to complete his passion project.

“If I can raise enough money with this Kickstarter campaign, I’ll be able to work full-time and achieve my goals much sooner. If I can’t raise enough money, I’ll have to find a new day job while I finish Headspace,” said Alger.

Supporting Oculus Rift to begin with – with future plans to add HTC Vive compatibility – Headspace VR allows users to utilise their local music files (MP3, AAC, and OGG currently) and then build their own world around that musical theme. So that could be a relaxing getaway or something more active and intense, the possibilities are endless.

Alger is looking to raise $64,200 USD to help him work on the project full time, looking to have it ready in around six months. Pledges start from $5, but to secure a copy of Headspace VR backers will need to go the the $15 tier, with higher tiers offering more goodies.

VRFocus will continue to follow the progress of Headspace VR, reporting back with the latest campaign updates.
