Recently Sony Interactive Entertainment made the somewhat unexpected announcement that it would be releasing a new version of the PlayStation VR, a new model version known as CUH-ZVR2. Many users have been waiting for a better look at the device, which is now possible with newly unveiled pictures.
It is fairly typical for Sony to release a slightly slimmer, upgraded version of its videogaming products, a pattern which the new PlayStation VR model seems to be following. The design also seems slightly more in line with the design of the PlayStation 4 Pro. The new design features a more streamlines connection cable, as well as the HDR pass through and changes in audio connectivity.
All currently available PlayStation VR software will be compatible with the new version of the device, and Sony have confirmed that future releases will also maintain compatibility with both versions of the device.
The company have said that they have no plans to change the pricing for the PlayStation VR at this point. The revised version of the PlayStation VR will be released in Japan on 14th October, 2017. There is yet no confirmation on a release date for the new model in Europe or North America.
VRFocus will bring you further information on the PlayStation VR as it becomes available.
