Tatiana Delgado the Co-Founder and Design Director of Vertical Robot, a Spanish development studio with a long history in making gaming talks to VRFocus about their first virtual reality (VR) puzzle adventure Red Matter at Oculus Connect 4 (OC4).
Delgado explains that Red Matter is set in a dystopian sci-fi world in the grip of a Cold War. In the videogame you play Agent Epsilon, an astronaut of the Atlantic Union dispatched to an abandoned Volgravian moon base. As you uncover more puzzles your paranoia starts kicking in and things take a turn for the worse – or do they?
The videogame makes use of teleportation and a jetpack, where you can propel yourself forward at your preferred speed. You make use of mechanical hands, a translator to decipher hidden messages as well as a flashlight. Using these various tools you go on to solve puzzles by interacting with objects around you. Red Matter has been confirmed for the Oculus Rift and is in the early stages of development, so no release date has been given yet.
