With the first anniversary of PlayStation VR now come and gone it seems as though Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is continuing its cycle of renewal. There’s the updated PlayStation VR headset which by all accounts has been selling well in Japan, and now the European PlayStation Blog has a new demo disc listed which is due for launch tomorrow.
The announcement of the PlayStation VR Demo Collection 2 won’t come as a surprise to those who read VRFocus’ article yesterday on PlayStation VR Skyrim VR Bundle. This new bundle which includes the new headset, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR and accessories, also comes with ‘an updated PlayStation VR Demo Disc including demos from 13 titles.’
But this bundle is only available in North America. So it seems as though European gamers aren’t going to missout on one part of the deal at least. Unfortunately further details are rather sparse at present. While the EU PlayStation Blog lists a release date of 8th November 2017 for the PlayStation VR Demo Collection 2, the link provided comes up with ‘unable to find this page’.
So at present SIE has yet to confirm what new titles will actually feature on the new demo disc. Since the first one last year there’s plenty to choose from. Will it feature videogames from across 2017, with earlier experiences like Resident Evil 7 biohazard featuring? Or will it be a bunch of new titles, some of which are yet to release, maybe from the recent Paris Games Week press conference like Bow to Blood, Megalith, Moss or Apex Construct for example. Or more likely demos of several new releases such as Gran Turismo Sport, League of War: VR Arena, Dead Hungry, Stifled, Raw Data and many more.
Recently, Jim Ryan, Head of Global Sales and Marketing at SIE, confirmed the company’s commitment to virtual reality (VR) and the future of the technology, saying: “I think VR we definitely see as having the potential to be a very significant part of the future of interactive entertainment.”
One thing’s for sure, there’s no shortage of content for SIE to choose from. Further details should be released tomorrow, when they do, VRFocus will let you know.
