Dreamscape Immersive Secures New Funding

One of the ways that virtual reality (VR) is being brought to a larger audience is through the establishment of location-based VR centres. Similar to arcades, these centres let users experience VR using state-of-the-art equipment that they might otherwise not be able to try out, due to space or cost considerations. Dreamscape immersive has recently secured funding to bring more of these centres to the US and UK.

Dreamscape Immersive is a start-up based in Los Angeles, and has previously received investment from AMC Entertainment and has now secured series B funding from investors including Nickelodeon, Majid Al Futtaim, Bold Capital Partners, 21st Century Fox, Warner Bros, VR Sense Solutions and others for a total of $30 million (USD).

The company’s previous collaboration with AMC Entertainment has led to a deal to open up to six Dreamscape Immersive VR Centers in both North America and the UK. The new investment will allow Dreamscape Immersive to further build its library of content and expand into further territories around the world.

We started Dreamscape Immersive with the fundamental belief that strategic partners will be key to our success,” said Aaron Grosky, COO of Dreamscape Immersive. “This group of existing and new investors, each of whom are leaders in their own respective categories, not only share in our vision but will help Dreamscape Immersive execute and grow. We couldn’t be more excited for what we’re going to be able to accomplish together.”

In addition, Dreamscape Immersive will be working with Nickelodeon to develop a new immersive experience aimed at children and families using Nickelodeon’s IPs. Other investors such as VRSense will be assisting in helping the company advance hardware development, while Image Nation Abu Dhabi will be helping with development of further high-quality immersive content.

Dreamscape Immersive is planning to open its flagship location at Westfield Century City Mall in Los Angeles some time in 2018.
