With virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) still enjoying its early days of development, there is still much to discover and create. So a robust research department is a necessity in companies who seek to be on the cutting edge of immersive technology. With this in mind, MR company DigitalBridge has appointed a new Head of Research.
DigitalBridge has announced that Ilaria Gori will be joining the company to lead the computer vision and machine learning research team to drive new technology innovations. Gori has a PhD in computer vision and robotics from the University of Texas, and prior to joining DigitalBridge worked as a lead data scientist at Innovative Technology, a provider of cash handling technology.
Of the new position at DigitalBridge, Gori said: “I’ve always loved working with innovative companies who bring solutions to the market that nobody else has thought of. I can’t wait to contribute to the ongoing success of DigitalBridge and help to push the boundaries of what we can make this exciting technology do.”
David Levine, CEO of DigitalBridge, said: “We’re delighted to have Ilaria on board to help shape our investment strategies and ensure we deliver innovative, market leading solutions to our customers. She has a wealth of experience and impressive expertise to bring to the company, so will be a great asset to our research division.”
DigitalBridge is based in Manchester, UK and works with mixed reality, augmented reality, computer vision and machine learning to create products such as an AR app that allows users to test out how new home décor products will look in the home, or an app powered by ARKit that allows for accurate measuring of spaces to facilitate renovations.
The company were also involved in the commissioning of a report into the impact that AR is having on consumers, which predicted that companies could begin to lose revenue unless they engaged with AR.
VRFocus will bring you further news on DigitalBridge as it becomes available.
