Seek Introduces AR Content Sharing Platform

Though there are several platforms for sharing content creating in virtual reality (VR) or 360-degree videos, there are few that allow users to share augmented reality (AR) content. Seek is aiming to change that with new AR content platform, Seek AR.

Seek is trying to use its community of AR enthusiasts to allow individuals, companies and brands to discover and share AR content using a single social platform. Seek has an audience of 500,000 users in 70 countries, who will form a key part of creating a gateway to mobile AR content for users.

The advantage of using a smartphone as an AR device is that is doesn’t need any external peripherals such as a headset or smartglasses, and smartphones are a device available to almost anyone, which Seek hopes will help them extend their reach to new users.

One of the first high-profile users to join the platform is Danielle Cohn, a content creator with a substantial presence on YouTube, Instagram and musical.ly where she shares music and video content. Cohn is now one of the early adopters of this new platform where she hopes to introduce new ways to connect with her audience by sharing AR content.

“I’m always aiming to be on the cutting-edge as an early adopter of exciting emerging technologies, discovering new ways to share my passion projects and favorite brands with my followers and bring them into my world,” said Danielle Cohn. “I am working closely with Seek to create special and exclusive content and immersive AR experiences for my amazing fans.”

“Seek is the ‘YouTube of AR’,” said Jon Cheney, CEO of Seek. “We are delivering on the promise of AR by making it easy for any smartphone owner to discover, publish and share rich AR experience. We are thrilled to be working with Lionsgate, Samsung and Danielle Cohn to offer AR experiences that drive fan visits, sales and engagement to a new level. At the same time, we give users the ability to make their own AR space as only they can.”

Seek is available for free download from Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
