Independent development studio Funbakers, along with publisher Playdius, has announced the upcoming interactive detective videogame, Silent Streets: The Mockingbird’s Last Dive. Set to launch next month, Silent Streets: The Mockingbird’s Last Dive promises to deliver a deep, interactive story built on augmented reality (AR) technologies.
Silent Streets: The Mockingbird’s Last Dive will let players roam around Snowport, a fictional city within which you must investigate crime scenes and interrogate numerous characters. The videogame uses the ARKit Framework, allowing the imagery from the videogame to be placed within your real-world environment.
“Silent Streets: The Mockingbird’s Last Dive is a perfect match with our mobile game line-up, focused on premium interactive stories” says Guillaume Jamet, Head of Publishing at Playdius. “It’s a very immersive experience with a strong storyline and compelling atmosphere. It’s even a step forward as it adds very innovative AR gameplay mechanics.”
The videogame will interchange between dialogue sequences and player interaction, in which a limited amount of time will be available to investigate a scene. Players must find all of the available clues to pieces together the puzzle and find the individual responsible for the crime.
Silent Streets: The Mockingbird’s Last Dive, although intended for use as an AR videogame, will be available to play on any iOS device without AR implementation. A non-AR enabled version will also launch for Android devices.
Funbakers’ CEO Demid Tishin said: “2D or Apple ARKit, it’s an equally beautiful game for lovers of a good adventure. The storytelling potential of AR is huge, and we just scratched the surface here. But then playing in 2D gives you more space to enjoy the artwork, so Android users get a good deal, too. We are very excited to partner with Playdius on it!”
No specific release date or price point has yet been announced for Silent Streets: The Mockingbird’s Last Dive, either on iOS or Android platforms, however Playdius has stated that the videogame will launch in January 2018.
