Life In 360°: Below The Waves

This last Wednesday on Life In 360° we covered both the land and the air thanks to a video where we went skydiving over the Russian countryside with a group, one of whom was armed with a GoPro. Adding, once again, to our ever-burgeoning folder of 360 degree videos relating to the being up in the sky, be it air travel or even in outer space.

With this in mind I wanted to pick something a little different today from one of the more recent 360 degree video releases online and since the air and the ground had been done why not do something involving going under the water in some way?

Stepping up to the plate to provide the video is Digital Explorer, an award-winning educational social enterprise dedicated to engaging young people in global issues. Who just after new year put up a video focusing on the launch of a submarine into the ocean.

“Become part of the crew and help us launch Triton Submarines deep ocean manned submersibles in this 360° video that puts you right in the heart of the launch deck – somewhere few people are have the privilege to go! This video was filmed as part of the first Nekton Mission to explore the deep ocean habitats around Bermuda and the Northwest Atlantic, delivering the XL Catlin Deep Ocean Survey.”

Speaking of the submarine, why don’t we go underwater with it? Well thankfully for us they also recorded that.

“Go on a 360° adventure with Greg Foot – Science Presenter and Triton Submarines pilot Kelvin, as they fly up the side of one the three underwater mountains (or seamounts) that make up Bermuda’s distinctive seabed landscape. There are three significant seamounts in these waters: Argus, Challenger and Bermuda itself. This video was filmed as part of the first Nekton Mission to explore the deep ocean habitats around Bermuda and the Northwest Atlantic, delivering the XL Catlin Deep Ocean Survey.”

We’ll have more escapades on the land, the sea and (maybe) in the air on Life in 360° next week on VRFocus.
