People attending the Abilities Expo will have an opportunity to test out a cutting-edge technology that uses virtual reality (VR) to improve outcomes of physical therapy.
The Abilities Expo has run in various forms for almost 40 years, offering a community for people with disabilities as well as their families, seniors, veterans and healthcare professionals. Each event is designed to showcase new technologies and new opportunities.
The VR Neurotherapy technology is being demonstrated by Mieron. The company has created the activities and exercises based on principles of physical therapy, sensory integration and neuro-recovery which has been designed to fit the needs of patients.
Use of the Mieron VR system is currently undergoing clinical trials and is available at selected healthcare centres. The system uses the Google Daydream VR platform, where a library of over two dozen VR experiences for Mieron are available.
