The glittering city of Dubai has become known as a prime place for high-tech leisure facilities and entertainment attractions. Indeed, it has previously seen several virtual reality (VR) attractions already. Emaar entertainment is planning to surpass the other immersive offerings, however, with the announcement of the ambitious VR Park.
Emaar Entertainment say they are planning to ‘challenge reality’ with the new attraction by providing a huge range of VR videogames, rides and experiences suitable for people of all ages.
The VR Park is due to be opened some time in the first half of 2018 and the Dubai Mall. It is hoped that the VR Park will bring together some of the best VR developers to create content for the park, as well as offer a glimpse into the future of entertainment in Dubai.
The plan is to include a range of immersive entertainment options, including VR, augmented reality (AR) and other immersive nad interactive forms of entertainment, such as a VR rollercoaster and educational journeys.
The VR Park will be set across two levels of the Dubai Mall, with many of the attractions and experiences planned to allow for multiple players, allowing groups of friends or families to share the experience. The VR Park is planned to cater to a range of interests and will offer gentle leisure experiences as well as high-adrenaline action or horror-based experiences.
Emaar Entertainment has previously been involved in VR with its efforts to bring a new attraction called VRZOO to the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, which featured 360-degree videos of endangered sea creatures as well as a specialised version of Wevr’s TheBlu in an effort to raise awareness of the need for conservation and protection of the world’s oceans.
It has not yet been confirmed exactly what experiences and videogames will be available at The VR Park. VRFocus will be sure to inform you when new information is available.
