If you’ve got a good memory you may remember VRFocus reporting on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government creating several 360-degree videos in a bid to promote tourism attractions in the Tokyo and Tohoku, Chugoku and Shikoku regions. Well that was back in 2016, so VRFocus has decided to revisit this eastern land as quite a few more videos have been created in the last year.
With Japan hosting the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in a couple of years the government is expecting a rise in tourism, and when most people visit a new country they do tend to take in the city sights before venturing further afield. These 360-videos not only give you an idea of what to look for in Tokyo but also encourage travellers to head west, showcasing the variety of place to explore whilst in Japan.
So how about heading to the Tokushima region for some white water rafting down the Yoshino River, hiking through the forests and for that part vibe time it right for the Awa Odori Festival. Awa Odori is not only held in Tokushima prefecture but nationwide, although the largest scale “Awa Odori” is still held in Tokushima City from 12th – 15th August.
Or then there’s always the Okayama region with the Korakuen Gardens with its vast green lawn, ponds and miniature hills that are connected by the garden paths and streams. Plus across the river that runs aside the garden is the Okayama Castle for some Japanese heritage.
There are plenty more videos featuring seven different regions on the CHUGOKU+SHIKOKU x TOKYO tour so have a look at them all before you travel. As always, Life In 360° will be back on Wednesday with more immersive videos.
