Today Major League Baseball (MLB) announced a number of new videogame titles for fans that will all release during the 2018 season.
The main talking point is Home Run Derby VR, which is the first virtual reality (VR) title developed by the MLB. The title will give players the chance to step into the batter’s boxes at Marlins Park (Miami), Nationals Park (Washington, DC) and Progressive Field (Cleveland) to score as many points as possible in the allotted time limit. Home Run Derby VR will bring the rush of batting as many home runs as possible into the home. Previously it was only seen in the enterprise edition of the title that was available at numerous global events including MLB Battlegrounds (London), MLB All-Star FanFest (Miami), team off-season events and numerous MLB ballparks.
Home Run Derby VR will be releasing in Spring 2018 for PlayStation VR and HTC Vive via Steam. More details on the title will be released in the future including the release date for each platform.
Elsewhere MLB also announced MLB Home Run Derby Mobile will be getting a new update to continue the support of the popular, award-winning mobile title. More then 20 iconic MLB ballparks, highlighted by the HD re-creation of Nationals Park, host of the 2018 T-Mobile Home Run Derby and MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard, will be added this year. With both single player and multiplayer modes available, the MLB Home Run Derby Mobile title allow players a chance to win fame and glory by climbing to the top of the leaderboards and compete against more than 11.5 million players. The first update will releasing on 27th March.
Lastly today, MLB announced the release of R.B.I baseball 18 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which is available today. The title allows players a chance experience the full excitement of baseball and play through a number of different models to take their team to the top of the leaderboards. The title is also planned to release on iOS devices on 27th March and will hit Android devices and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2018.
