If you own a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR then there’s a good chance you’ll already be a PlayStation Plus member, gaining access to free videogames every month. And since the end of last year these have started to include virtual reality (VR) titles like Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and RIGS: Mechanised Combat League. For those yet to take the plunge Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe (SIEE) has announced that all players including current PlayStation Plus members will be able to receive 25 percent off of the purchase of a 12 month PlayStation Plus membership.
One of the biggest benefits for PlayStation Plus members are the regular deals and discounts available, especially for PlayStation VR titles. Last month for example SIE ran a special one week promotion, reducing the price of almost 60 videogames for the headset, with the likes of nDreams’ Shooty Fruity, Bethesda Softworks’ Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR and DOOM VFR, Stifled, Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul and Don’t Knock Twice all seeing big reductions.
PlayStation Plus membership isn’t just about making you spend more money – although the PlayStation arm is the one keeping Sony profitable. With more than 31.5 million paid members around the world, exclusive features and benefits include PlayStation 4 online multiplayer, two PlayStation 4 titles each month including Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank from 6th March, plus 10GB of online storage for saving players videogames.
The PlayStation Plus offer continues SIE’s 2018 roll out of offers, heavily pushing the already successful PlayStation brand. February also saw heavy discounts for US customers on PlayStation VR, with the Gran Turismo Sport bundle priced at $199.99 USD and the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR Bundle retailing for $349.99. Due to the aggressive pricing of PlayStation VR SIE confirmed last year that the headset has sold 2 million plus units so far.
The new offer is available on the EU PlayStation Store from 10am GMT on Friday, 2nd March until 10AM GMT on Friday, 23rd March, 2018. This offer will also be available at participating retailers in select SIEE markets. For all the latest SIE and PlayStation VR related updates, keep reading VRFocus.
