Sony Permanently Drops Price of the PlayStation VR Camera Bundle Worldwide

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE’s) PlayStation VR has proven to be massively popular with PlayStation 4 owners, with over 2 million sold since the headsets launch in October 2016. In that time SIE has released numerous bundles and limited time discounts to tempt gamers onto its virtual reality (VR) platform. Today it’s a little different as SIE has revealed a new price for PlayStation VR, one that looks permanent.

PlayStation VR DOOM VFR Bundle

From tomorrow, Thursday 29th March 2018, the PlayStation VR and PlayStation Camera Bundle will be available at a new price point of $299 USD /€299 EUR/£259.99 GBP and 34,980 yen, down from the current standard price of $399/ €399/£349.99 and 44,980 yen respectively.

Each bundle is slightly different depending on the region, with the Japanese version sold as “PlayStation VR PlayStation Camera Bundle” in Japan, “PlayStation VR Doom VFR Bundle” in North America and “PlayStation VR Starter Pack” (includes PlayStation VR WORLDS) in European Regions.

For North American customers there’s an additional deal. The PlayStation VR The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR Bundle will now cost $349.99 USD/$449.99 CAD rather than $449.99 USD/579.99 CAD. This bundle includes the PlayStation VR headset, PlayStation Camera, two PlayStation Move controllers, the PlayStation VR Demo Disc 2.0 and the Skyrim VR core game and all official add-ons.

PlayStation VR Group shot

There are around 300 VR titles for PlayStation VR owners to choose from, some of which are still platform exclusive, like Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 biohazard. And there’s plenty more on the way with anticipated launches including Blood & TruthWipEout Omega Collection, Firewall Zero HourThe PersistenceStar ChildEden TomorrowRick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality and Smash Hit Plunder to name a few.

SIE hasn’t stated an end date for the new price point so it doesn’t seem to be limited in time, marking the first permanent price down since PlayStation VR launched. VRFocus will continue its coverage of PlayStation VR, reporting back with any further updates.
