Toshiba Partners With Atheer To Provide Enterprise-Grade AR To Smartglasses

Atheer, a leader in industrial enterprise augmented reality (AR) software solutions has announced it is partnering with Toshiba to bring there AiR Enterprise solution to the Toshiba dynaEdge AR100 smartglasses.

Only the other day was it revealed that production had begun on the smartglasses that Toshiba and Vuzix are branded as Toshiba dynaEdge AR100 smartglasses. Designed to be connected directly to the Toshiba DE 100 Mobile Mini PC, which is a smart belt-worn unit that powers the smartglasses via a USB type-C cable. The unit is designed to allow Windows 10-based remote support using custom applications, aiding workers and technicians communication with eachother via text, video and audio.

The new partnership with Atheer will see the development of an enterprise-grade AR software platform that will work with the new smartglasses. The touchless, gesture-based interaction will allow for a number of different applications that will benefit the user in multiple ways. This could include AR solutions for industrial application such as field service, manufacturing and repair operations, assembly line management, warehouse picking and remote visualization and much more. This will all be possible thanks to AiR Enterprise in conjunction with the Toshiba dynaEdge AR100 smartglasses.

Atheer’s integrated suite of capabilities is designed to meet the needs of today’s industrial enterprises including:

  • See-What-I-See (SWIS) video conferencing through remote communications
  • User point of view (POV) photo and video capture using the embedded camera
  • Configurable step-by-step task guidance (with touchless, gesture-based interactions)
  • Barcode scanning and info display
  • Detailed task and workflow process analytics
  • Easy integration with other enterprise systems
  • Enterprise grade security: on-device, in-transit, and at-rest.

The implementation of AiR Enterprise for the Toshiba dynaEdge AR100 smartglasses marks the first time that the solution has been offered natively on Windows 10, though Atheer have been providing users of Android-based smart glasses with AR solutions since 2012. The application will be available in the second quartter of 2018 on Toshiba dynaEdge AR Smart Glasses.
