Tribeca Film Festival Announce Anniversary Films and Tribeca Talks

Ahead of the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, they have released the schedule for the anticipated anniversary films and Tribeca Talks series’ along with a line up of technology related talks.

As previously covered, the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival is continuing to push the boundaries of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) content. This includes a showing of 33 different VR exhibitions and experiences from top creators that will offer viewers unique moments. This is accompanied by the Tribeca Cinema360 and Storyscapes experiences. Today comes the reveal of talks on a wide range of technologies that will be at the festival including artificial intelligence (AI), Blockchain, interactive storytelling and gaming and which anniversary films will also be screening.

The highly anticipated anniversary films have been revealed and include the likes of Schindler’s List, celebrating it’s 25th anniversary on Thursday, 26th April at 6:30pm. Scarface, celebrating the 35th anniversary on Thursday, 19th April at 7pm in the Beacon Theatre and In the Soup – Restoration, celebrating once again it’s 25th anniversary on Tuesday, 24th April at 7:30pm in the SVA Theatre.

The Tribeca talks section titled ‘Future of Film‘ includes a number of panels, all hosted within the Tribeca Festival Hub, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Augmented & Reality: The future of Immersive Storytelling on Tuesday, 24th April at 1pm.
  • Education and Advocacy in VR on Tuesday, 24th April at 2pm.
  • Blockchain: Can Blockchain Breed Blockbusters on Monday, 23rd April at 1pm.
  • Interactive Technology in Storytelling on Friday, 20th April at 1pm.
  • The Game-Changer: Building Faster, Smarter Games on the Cloud on Monday, 21st April at 1pm.

Paula Weinstein, EVP of Tribeca Enterprises, commented on the announcements by saying: “As we welcome new filmmakers to the Tribeca community, it is a great time to pause and take a look back at master filmmakers and some of their singular works that have changed filmmaking and influenced popular culture, our anniversary screenings and our Talks allow a rare behind the scenes look at the creative process – be it director, actor, songwriter – we give our audiences a window into the thoughts and inspiration of the best story tellers working today.”

The 2018 Tribeca Film Festival is set to take place between 18th-29th April, 2018. Tickets are available to be purchased online begging 27th March and as previously covered, the Virtual Arcade, Cinema360 screenings and Storyscapes tickets will also be available from the site as well, offering attendees more content to experience.
