If you want to develop videogames whether for standard gaming platforms, virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR), one of the most popular pieces of software is Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. And for European developers who use the platform Epic Games will be running a special event next month called Unreal Fest Europe 2018, in Berlin, Germany.
The three-day event is designed exclusively for game creators using the Unreal Engine, with a wide variety of speakers confirmed. The conference will open with a keynote address by Tim Sweeney, CEO and Founder of Epic Games.
“The time is right to create an event that brings European Unreal developers together to learn, share and thrive. There are now more developers using the Unreal Engine than ever before, and Unreal Fest answers the industry’s call for an event that is entirely focused on creating great games using Unreal,” commented Mike Gamble, European Territory Manager, Epic Games.
Speakers come from some of the leading development studios in Europe, with the likes of Ninja Theory’s Matt Stoneham, Mark Slater, Jeff Goslan, and Steven Manship in attendance. Plus Andy Bastable and Steven Frost from Rare will be there. Although the conference is focused on learning and development there will be ample opportunities for networking and sharing experiences with other developers.
“Unreal Fest Europe is an official event, and sponsor of, #gamesweekberlin, a weeklong festival of games across all platforms and genres. We’re delighted to welcome Unreal Fest Europe to #gamesweekberlin 2018. This exciting new conference for Unreal developers is the perfect addition to our weeklong celebration of every aspect of games and interactive entertainment. Berlin is set to be the centre of the games universe in April,” commented Michael Liebe, #gamesweekberlin.
If you’re a developer that would like to give a talk, submissions are still open with the deadline being Friday 30th March via the website. For those that just want to attend, conference-only passes are €150 EUR whilst pass and accommodation packages start at €300 for the Early Bird offer which includes three nights’ accommodation.
