Become a Champion Quarterback When 2MD: VR Football Lands on PlayStation VR

Truant Pixel launched its first virtual reality (VR) title 2MD: VR Football last September for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The American Football arcade experience puts you in the shoes of a quarterback and this Spring PlayStation VR owners will have their chance to score the winning touchdown.

Rather than a full game of American Football 2MD: VR Football condenses all the action down into two minutes, where players take on the role of quarterback tasked with capturing victory in the final minutes of a game. So football fans can draw the plays, call the shots, and throw, hand-off, or run the ball to take down opponents before the clock runs out.

All the players are dummies – in the literal sense – with Truant Pixel creating a 1:1 throwing model which is customisable for players of all sizes, whether they want to stand or sit during the experience.

While focused on fun, quick-fire action 2MD: VR Football adds a tactical element via an interactive whiteboard that allows players to draw up to 8 custom plays (or dynamically flipping them for 16 total). Having told the dummies what to do you can then head to the field where audible instructions can be called using either digital controls, or speech recognition.

On the PlayStation Blog, Maher Al-Samkari, President, Truant Pixel LLC also notes several unique PlayStation VR features: “In addition to building from the ground-up for PSVR, we’ve taken the time to add even more to round out the experience: We’ve enlisted the talents of professional voice actors like SungWon Cho (@prozdkp) as coach, Xander Mobus (of Persona 5 and Super Smash Bros) as our announcer, and David Wald (@davidwald_va) to voice some of our players. The PS VR release of 2MD also features music by up-and-coming Hip-hop artist K.Carter, whose fight song “Down the Field” plays during the championship game.”

Just like the PC version, PlayStation VR will include eight immersive stadiums (with unique touchdown celebrations), customisable teams, rapid-fire ring toss bonus rounds and more. There’s no specific release date just yet, when there is VRFocus will let you know.
