Enjoying a Sun-kissed Afternoon With Owlchemy Labs’ Vacation Simulator

One of the most eagerly awaited titles of 2018 to appear at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2018 was Owlchemy Labs’ Job Simulator – The 2050 Archives sequel Vacation Simulator. VRFocus got to demo the experience on the Oculus booth using Oculus Rift and Touch, plus a quick catch up with the studios’ CEO Alex Schwartz to learn more about this fun-filled title.

Owlchemy Labs first released details on Vacation Simulator in December 2017 by revealing a short teaser during the Game Awards. It wasn’t until GDC 2018 last month that the first hands-on demonstrations were available, giving a glimpse into the teams zany minds.

Job Simulator – The 2050 Archives put Owlchemy Labs on the virtual reality (VR) map, being a launch title for HTC Vive, Oculus Touch and PlayStation VR – it’s still very popular reaching number two in PlayStation VR’s download charts for March. Then came Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, based on the cartoon series of the same name the title saw massive success with press and consumers alike – VRFocus gave it a five star review.

So there’s a lot riding on the shoulder of Vacation Simulator, looking to build upon those fun immersive elements found in Owlchemy Labs’ other VR titles yet at the same time moving things on, trying new ideas and giving players even weirder and wacky toys to play with.

VRFocus’ preview of Vacation Simulator commented on the experience: “Vacation Simulator feels very much like a Job Simulator 2.0, rehoused and repackaged in a new, brighter skin. From this introduction the videogame certainly looks like its going to continue the studio’s strong lineage, with Owlchemy Labs promising a bigger experience with more of a storyline for the single-player title, and plenty more to do.”

Why hear about Vacation Simulator from VRFocus when Schwartz can tell you all about the inspiration behind the videogame, some of the features you can expect to see and much more. Of course as VRFocus learns more about Vacation Simulator we’ll keep you updated on the latest announcements.
