Location-based virtual reality (VR) centres are becoming more popular as places where players can try out the latest in high-end VR experiences without the expense of buying your own VR kit. However, those centres still face challenges in creating fully fledged multiplayer VR experiences. VRStudios is offering a solution with its latest product, the VRCade Atom.
Based on VRCade’s existing Attraction Management Platform (AMP), the Atom aims to integrate high-end computing power, head-mounted display technology, wireless transmission and multiplayer tracking.
The technology used in the system comes from some of the most recognisable names in VR, such as HTC vive, Hewlett-Packard and TPCast. The VRCade Atom system can use the content management features of AMP and run experiences from the exisiting portfolio of content, including titles such as Time Zombies, Barking Irons, planktOs and Drone Storm. Attraction managers can also add additional content selected from the Steam store.
“The VRcade Atom is another significant addition to our growing family of turnkey solutions built expressly for the LBE operators. It demonstrates our ongoing focus and strategy to integrate the latest and best technology available, utilizing our AMP platform to make it easy and efficient for LBEs to operate on a daily basis,” said Kevin Vitale, VRstudios’ CEO. “Atom is a true commercial-grade, wireless free-roaming system, and its price point makes it compelling for LBEs to drop the wires and add VR attractions to their business.”
The Atom system can be installed independently as a solo unit or linked with other Atom systems and networked together to increase player count in VR titles which support it. VRStudios have created VRCade Atom to be easy to set up and take down or reconfigure for future upgrades. As standard, the VRCAde Atom in standard configuration needs a footprint of 10 feet by 10 feet to make efficient use of available floorspace.
