Announcement Trailer for VR Shooter Oval is Revealed

Independent development studio Reactor Heart have revealed the first glimpses of what its competitive virtual reality (VR) shooter Oval will look like in action with the first trailer and the announcement of when the title will enter Early Access.

The team at Reactor Heart have developed Oval specifically for VR, and say that its fast-paced action is almost entirely free from simulation sickness.

Oval

Oval is primarily multiplayer-focussed, offering a high-speed but comfortable locomotion system along with precise controls for what the developers hope with be a unique competitive videogame. In addition, players will be able to create and edit their own levels with the multiplayer level editor that allows the community to create and share their own unique maps.

The title is set to launch on Steam Early Access on 8th June, 2018. The developers expect it will be in Early Access for 6-12 months for further development and polishing. For the final version, the team at Reactor Heart is hoping to add more new maps, different character skins, weapons and game modes along with improvements to the level editing system.

For its launch on Steam Early Access, Oval will have five different weapons, three official maps, integrated in-game voice chat and bots available for all official maps. The development team are hoping the level editor feature will allow the community to become involved with the title and help to improve the title through its time in Early Access. It will be compatible with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality devices.

To encourage community involvement, Reactor Heart have plans to showcase the best of the community created maps, and potentially incorporate the best of those maps into the official release, with the developers tweaking them with internal tools to make them as good as they can be.
