In 2017 Steve Bambury set out to attempt something new by hosting a free ‘continuing professional development’ (CPD) by using virtual reality (VR) by using the Engage platform from Immersive VR Education. To celebrate the first year anniversary of this, a special CPDinVR event is planned.
The special CPDinVR First Anniversary Event will feature a number of VR industry experts and influencers along with presentations, panel discussions and more.
The CPDinVR events began as an attempt by Steve Bambury and VirtualiTeach to create monthly engagement with educators and VR enthusiasts, which grew to eventually welcome viewers and participants from over twenty countries.
The anniversary event will be joined by guests from well-know companies and brands such as BBC, HTC Vive, Nvidia and Lifeliqe, among others.
The programme line-up is planned to include several keynote presentations from names such as Alvin Greylin of HTC Vive, Charlie Fink of Forbes who will talk about AR in Education along with panel discussions, including a discussion on VR in Diversity which will be hosted by Caitlin Krause and Dr Sana Farid, along with VRFocus’ own Nina Salomons.
Other planned guests include the crew of The Virtual Reality podcast, VR influencer Chris Madsen, Bob Fine of Cool Blue Media, Caitlin Krause of Mindwise and Mike Armstrong Immersive AR Education.
The event is due to take place on 5th July, 2018, starting at 9am Est or 2PM BST. CPDinVR events are free to attend, but there is limited availability within Engage, so registration is required for those who wish to get involved, which requires a valid email address.
The Engage application can be downloaded for free on Steam, though it is not currently supported for Mac users. A HTC Vive or Oculus Rift headset is not required, but the organisers recommend VR for the best experience.
Further information can be found on the VirtualiTeach website. VRFocus will bring you further news on this event as it becomes available.
