Israeli Company Developing AR/VR Vision Solutions Secures $11.5 Million In Funding

The medical uses of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) continue to grow rapidly as the technology advances. Now, Beyeonics Surgical Ltd, a subsidiary of Israel’s Elbit Systems, have announced that they have raised $11.5 million (USD) in a first investment round from leading investment groups including an international corporation.

The subsidiary develops surgeon-centered visualization technologies that enable users to enhance their performance within the surgical filed. Their first clinically tested system – Clarity Bionic Visualization Platform – proved to be a reliable tool for providing surgeons with AR and VR vision capabilities, replacing the need for as surgical microscopes. The platform allows for real-time integration with an unlimited amount of data, offering the users much needed information in a short amount of time.

The platform is designed to utilize “unique Elbit Systems” display technology, 3D ultra-resolution remote sensing cameras, and a processing core that leverages Elbit Systems’ image processing knowledge and experience. The company reports that the platform has been successful tested in more than 20 ophthalmic surgeries both at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center and at Retinal Consultants of Arizona.

The new funding will be used to continue developing the platform to allow it to offer users a more robust solution that meets their needs and expectations. As Elbit Systems is one of Israel’s defense companies, it has defense, homeland security and commercial operations throughout the world and is therefore driven to delivery the best product that it can.
