Launch Date for Multiplayer VR Title Seeking Dawn Announced

With virtual reality (VR) moving towards a more mature phase of development, we’re starting to see larger adventures coming to life, particularly for the high-end platforms such as PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Developer Multiverse Entertainment are seeking to continue and expand upon that trends with Seeking Dawn, which has had its expected launch date for its full version on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift announced.

Seeking Dawn has been envisioned as a large-scale VR sci-fi mutliplayer set on a sprawling alien planet which mixes together elements of role-playing games (RPG) with survival crafting.

Seeking Dawn

Set in the 23rd Century, the player is part of an investigation into rumours of an enemy military base on an alien planet. The player takes the role of James Weston, who needs to try and separate fact from fiction and discover the truth about this alien world, with only the voice of a grumpy ship’s captain in his earpiece to guide him.

The gameplay features both a single-player campaign along with multi-player options within the story-driven campaign, with the development team promising dozens of hours of gameplay with gritty combat and the ability to develop and customise characters using the RPG elements.

The crafting elements will include over 50 tools which can be used for combat or survival. While players will need to hunt down wildlife and other resources, hostile creatures will also come to attack your base, so setting up base defences will be critical.

While Seeking Dawn has been available in Early Access since early May through the Seeking Dawn official website for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, it will soon make its way to a full release on 12th July, 2018, with a PlayStation VR version expected later in the year.

Players will be able to take on the challenges along, or join up with a team in a cooperative online multiplayer mode to increase survival chances.

Seeking Dawn will be priced at $39.99 (USD) and pre-orders are available now from the Multiverse Inc website. For future coverage on Seeking Dawn and other upcoming VR projects, keep checking back with VRFocus.
