A couple of firsts today on Life in 360°. Over the years, and as astonishing as it seems it has actually been years now, we’ve travelled all over the globe and watched 360 degree videos in a number of different ways. Whether it was planes, trains and automobiles of all types, bikes -both the pedal and the motor kind. You name it. I’m positive we even had a video based in a hot air balloon at one stage in time, but I’ll be damned if I can find the instance!
Oh well, maybe we’ll have to revisit that one at a later date.
But our first… first. Is indeed the way we’re travelling about today. We’re doing so via a coach and horse, though it’s more of a trap type of carriage than anything else. What’s also clear is that it’s a taxi service. Uber, this is not.
We’re also somewhere we’ve not yet journeyed yet, The island of Cuba. Cuba might be known best for its political history on the world stage, but the island as a whole is quite a fascinating one. Filled with all manner of different environments, which as a result brings it great variety. It is the largest island (stretching approximately 1,200km across from the west to the east) of the islands to be found in the Caribbean Sea and with the islands nearby it forms what is known as the Greater Antilles.
Culturally there’s actually a great mix of Latin styles and influences from places such as New Orleans. The Spanish playwright and theatre director Federico García Lorca once amusingly put it that, “The only things that the United States has given to the world are skyscrapers, jazz, and cocktails. That is all. And in Cuba, in our America, they make much better cocktails.”
Our trip is a humbler one however, as we traverse the streets to a steady clip-clop.
