If you’re an Elite Dangerous fan then you’ll be pleased to hear that Frontier Developments has now launched the second chapter of its Beyond season of updates.
The update is free to all players, whether they’re on PC (compatible with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift), PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. While it may be smaller than previous installments Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter Two still features a decent amount of new content, most of which is focused on community-requested enhancements to the overall player experience.
Players will find new wing mining missions and new high threat USS’s, and missions that can direct players to them. New weapons at applicable Tech Brokers: Large Plasma Shock Cannon (Fixed, Gimbal, Turret), Large Guardian Shard Cannon (Fixed, Turret) and Large Guardian Plasma Launcher (Fixed, Turret). And finally two new ships, the Alliance Challenger – a medium sized ship, based on the Alliance Chieftain that has stronger armour, and boasts a generous compliment of hard-points, whilst retaining the Chieftains characteristic agility; plus the Krait Mk.II – a medium sized, multi-role ship, that focuses on speed, fire-power and maneuverability rather than defense.
Of course the update wouldn’t be complete without the presence of intergalactic menace the Thargoids. Not only will their story continue they’ll be introducing new Scouts that will buff other Scouts and increase their combat efficiency.
Frontier Developments isn’t stopping there either. Chapter Two will be the first of two smaller instalments coming as part of the Elite Dangerous Beyond series, with a larger update coming in Q4 of this year, introducing Squadrons and featuring improvements to Mining, Exploration and much more. VRFocus will of course follow the latest developments, reporting back when the new updates are announced.
