Not too long ago, Bethesda announced several new titles that would include virtual reality (VR) support. Those mentioned were Prey VR, The Elder Scrolls: Blades and Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot. While few details were announced during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 press conference, VRFocus has uncovered a one or two extras.
As you can probably tell from the image above, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot will be compatible with PlayStation VR. Bethesda’s own press site also confirms support for PC, and as the title is purely for VR it’s fairly safe to say that Oculus Rift and HTC Vive will be included in that support – the HTC Vive twitter account did retweet Bethesda’s own Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot announcement if that’s anything to go by.
And as for news on the videogame itself, Bethesda has revealed this piece of story info: “Paris. 1980. You’re the best hacker in town. Your mission: Aid the French resistance by taking control of powerful Nazi war machines. Ram, gun down, and burn your way through the City of Love, leaving dead Nazis in your wake. Saddle up, Cyberpilot, you’re one of us now.”
As a cyberpilot you’re going to take control of some nasty Nazi vehicles, turning them against their makers in a bid to alter the course of the war.
Just to assure VR gamers of the quality of the incoming experience, it’s being made by MachineGames, the same studio behind the last title, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. This is also MachineGames’ first foray into the world of VR.
As for when Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot is out, well you’re going to have to wait a little while with a launch window of 2019. The title will be available on the E3 show floor, and once its open VRFocus will bring you a hands-on feature detailing whether the experience is worth waiting for.
